MESSAGE FROM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS :
Henry Michael D'Souza :

Most of us Mangaloreans would have certainly read recently a very moving article by a Doha based child Sana Britto on Child Labour in the web-site Mangalorean.com. Yes, every one feels sad when a child is sad and crying and of course loves to see a smile on the face of any child. The MCA has embarked on a mission to bring a natural smile on the face of hundreds of children who would otherwise permanently remain in total darkness .and it will also give joy to the parents of these children who will themselves thank the Good Lord for answering their own prayersMay God Bless the MCA and all its members and well wishers especially the participants of todays 245th Wilfy Nite .we pray for success for all their endeavors ahead.
Jerry Pinto :

Rich and privileged children can carve out for themselves and their future families a safe or grand future in this world (thanks to good education with parental care especially with financial support.but hardly anyone thinks about those who remain underprivileged even to get basic amenities of life including education. That the MCA has taken upon itself the noble goal of giving a genuine helping hand to as many children of the community as possible makes me and my family feels proud to associate ourselves with them.
Felix Lobo :

John F. Kennedy once said, If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

All of us want to be able to contribute towards a charitable cause and help out in one way or another. With the establishment of the Mangalore Catholic Association (MCA) we have an organization which is closer to home. The main objective of the organization is to serve the poorest of the poor. And this can be achieved only if we follow in the footsteps of the patron of MCA, Mother Theresa. Mother Theresa said, There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in -- that we do it to God, and that's why we try to do it as beautifully as possible. So Friends, let us collectively support and encourage MCA and its members as they join hands in helping to eradicate poverty and other anti-social elements.

My best wishes and prayers are with the club and its members. Gob Bless you as you embark on your noble journey.
Wilfred Fernandes :

God has blessed Mable and myself with four wonderful children, all of whom worked hard, educated themselves well and have set foot in life as responsible adults. Yes we do see around us, especially back home so many children who cannot even dream of obtaining basic education or decent and simple job- oriented skills and the very fact that MCA has dedicated itself to render to them whatever help possible is something our whole community should feel proud about.
Walter Serrao :

In the early 20th century, a noble priest started the St.Antonys Ashram at Jeppu and ever since thousands of institutes including the aged as well as small children found food, shelter and help through of course the Devine intercession of St.Antony. As my family also helped a few institutes and orphan families in whatever we could afford, we know the spiritual joy it generates to our family. The Mangalorean Cultural Association with its goal to help especially institute children of the community, help them to educate themselves and prepare for a good job and improve their lives ahead. I am not sure there is anything more noble than that to do in life. That all the founder members of the Mangalorean Cultural Association speak in one voice approving the need to go all out to achieve this goal would make all these children feel that after all in every cloud there is a silver lining and that God is reaching out to them through these chosen people. I wish all success to the Mangalorean Cultural Association.
Jochim D'Souza :

Many of those who are privileged to work in the gulf, normally never tend to forget the hard days our parents may have gone through to bring us up and bless us with the best affordable education possible. all of which has brought us so far and be happy in life. Perhaps if we just glance at many others around us, back in our parishes, towns or cities, schools or colleges, wherever we have grown up, may be we can remember umpteen number of children working in construction sites, or as domestic workers or as helpers in bus stands, hotels etc.children who too would have loved to go to school and learn some good skills and be able to take up more honorable jobs. Such children can very often are the lost children of the society because they tend to grow up frustrated in life, end up in drugs, drinks, prostitution and violence etc. Perhaps if we can reach out to even a few children among our own communities from their very childhood stage itself, help them to get good education and grow up as respectable and responsible citizens, may be they can set foot in life as trained or skilled mechanics, technicians, electricians, etc etc.they too can look forward to live a better life and as a natural follow up., later in their life, can bring their own children up as better qualified young men capable of taking up better career jobs themselves. I and my family wish the MCA and all its members Gods Choicest Blessings in their great mission.
DONY LOBO :

The strength of any community can be measured by the reach of the education to each and every household of the community unfortunately in our Mangalorean community, not every family be it in cities or remote villages, have the opportunity for educating their children either due to abject poverty or due to money wasting bad habits of the parents like drinking, gambling etc which deprives the support needed to finance the education of their childrenwho in turn will grow up to be inferior members of the society in general.which in turn could drive them into drugs, alcoholism or into the arms of anti-social elements. But however when enlightened non religious lay community leaders realize the impact of such a serious situation and join together to work towards helping such unfortunate kids to get basis education thereby uplifting their career prospects..perhaps there could be no better way one could render a noble service to ones own community.and every other privileged member of the community should extend fullest cooperation to them and be rest assured that the blessings of the Good Lord will certainly shower on them, their families and their entire communities as a whole.

In simple words of the late US President John Kennedy Ask not what our community Gave us but search what we have given to the community..and if the community has given plenty, thank God for the same and join the hands of those who are contributing to bring up the communitys forgotten children
