It was a spectacular show which took place at Al Ghazal club on Friday the 10th of October as the 4th Semifinal event of Gulf voice of Mangalore. 12 melodious singers from Qatar, mesmerized the full packed crowd.
The function started at sharp 6 pm with bang start of MCA anthem with a standing ovation followed by the welcome speech by the dynamic president Mr. Harry Lobo. The Chief Guests of the evening Guruji Joe Mary Lobo Director, Chirsta Sharan Ashram Birur and the Advisory committee members of Mangalore Cultural Association lit the lamp and inaugurated the much awaited singing event.
The curtains got opened for the grand Semi Finals by the official Compare of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Mr.Leslie Rego who then introduced and handed over the judges file to Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus, Mr. Melwyn Peris and Mr. Joel Pereira through Guruji Joe Mary Lobo. The first session continued with the performance of all the 12 contestants
After the completion of the first session of the competition MCA had its stage program wherein they honored the respected Jury Members, Guests Artist, Musicians follwed by 12 particpants of Qatar. Also the sponsors and donors were felicitated. The stage program was concluded by the touching message of Guruji. Official event was compared by the famous writer and well known Konkani fun Colomist Mr. CGS taccodde.
This was followed by the entertainment by Konkani Legendry - Konkan Kogul Wilfy Rebimbus, Konkan Myna Meena Rebimbus, Yodling King Melwyn Peris and Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira with some of their hit numbers. The highlight of this part of the program was the number by Wilfy & Meena which described the attacks on Christians in Mangalore In between, Leslie Rego entertained the crowd with jokes.
Mr. Arthur Pais the event coordinator and cultural secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks and finally entire crowd witnessed the glittering moment of announcing and felicitating those 2 voices of Qatar who qualified with the big bang of 110 and 101 points respectively by Mr. Edward Roshan D’souza and Mrs. Sunitha Tellis and finally felicitating them by the qualifying badges and presenting the mementos by MCA. The much awaited function concluded at about 10 o clock.
